Artist Statement

I am an English Artist now living in Andalusia, Spain. I consider myself to be a self taught artist and inspired greatly by the passion, quality of light and colour of my new home I have been painting professionally since moving to Spain in 2003.

My inspiration comes from the passion and colour of traditional Andalusian culture. I work in acrylic paint on large canvasses using a combination of brushes, palette knives and even sometimes my hands to apply the paint directly from the tube onto the canvas, amalgamating spontaneous brush strokes, highly textured areas and fine detail.

My style achieves bold emotional expression portrayed through the use of bright contrasting colours, resulting in very original paintings. Working from many images taken at local Ferias I aim to capture the passion, attitude and individuality that is so evident in the people of Andalusia. My paintings are mainly abstract in style with a few details to represent the feeling I wish to portray.

I consider myself to be very lucky to live in such a beautiful and inspiring part of the world.
